Anti-Ragging Policy for Jhankar College

Jhankar College is fully committed to eliminating ragging from the campus and creating an environment of dignity, respect, and equality for all students. Any student found guilty of ragging will face severe disciplinary actions, and the college will not tolerate any act of ragging in any form. The cooperation of all students, faculty, and staff is essential to make the campus a safer, more inclusive place for everyone.

Anti-Ragging Policy is established in compliance with the regulations prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Honorable Supreme Court of India.

 

Objective

The objective of this policy is to:

1.      Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all students.

2.      Prevent, prohibit, and punish ragging in any form.

3.      Establish mechanisms for reporting ragging incidents and providing support to victims.

4.      Promote a culture of mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation among students.

 

Preventive Measures

1.      Awareness Programs: Orientation sessions will be held for new students to make them aware of the consequences of ragging.

Regular workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns will be conducted for both students and staff on the negative impact of ragging.

 

2.      Vigilance and Monitoring: CCTV cameras will be installed at strategic locations across the campus to monitor student activities.

Faculty and staff will be encouraged to actively observe and report any potential incidents of ragging.

 

3.      Student Committees: A dedicated Anti-Ragging Committee will be formed, consisting of faculty, staff, and student representatives, to oversee the implementation of this policy and to address any concerns raised by students.

A mentoring system will be implemented, where senior students are tasked with guiding and supporting junior students, ensuring positive student interaction.

 

Investigation and Action

1.      Immediate Suspension: Any student involved in ragging will be suspended from the college immediately for the duration of the investigation.

2.      Investigation Process: A thorough and impartial investigation will be carried out by the Anti-Ragging Committee within a stipulated time frame (usually 7 days from the receipt of the complaint).

Statements will be recorded from the complainant, witnesses, and accused. The College will ensure the privacy of all parties involved.

3.      Punishment for Ragging: The college will take stringent action against the guilty, which may include:

§  Expulsion from the college.

§  Suspension or rustication for a fixed period.

§  Fines or any other disciplinary action deemed appropriate by the Committee.

4.      Appeal: Students found guilty of ragging will have the right to appeal the decision within 15 days, as per the college’s appeal process.

Responsibilities of Students

1.      Seniors: Senior students are expected to help newcomers adjust to the college environment in a friendly and supportive manner, not through any form of ragging.

Seniors will be encouraged to foster an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual respect, while also discouraging any forms of bullying or harassment.

 

2.      Juniors: Junior students are expected to approach faculty, mentors, or the Anti-Ragging Committee if they face any form of harassment, intimidation, or bullying. Juniors should cooperate with the authorities during investigations.

 

Responsibilities of the Institution

1.      Monitoring and Supervision: The college administration is responsible for ensuring that all students are aware of the Anti-Ragging Policy and its implications.

Regular checks and surveillance will be maintained to ensure a safe campus environment.

 

2.      Support for Victims: The college will provide counseling and psychological support for any student who becomes a victim of ragging.

Victims of ragging will be assured of protection and confidentiality throughout the process.
